04 Nov VANS Shop Riot Finals
Last weekend we hopped back into our OB van and headed north to produce and live stream another skate comp for VANS.
This time the event was a little closer to home than Paris, with the Shop Riot Finals being held at The Works Skate Park in Leeds. With skate teams from countries across Europe converging to compete for the cash prize, we were not short of fantastic footage to capture.
Feeling like old hats at filming skate events for VANS, we were prepared for anything the skaters could throw our way. Our camera kit was purpose designed for an event like this one with three manned Sony EA50s, two of which we equipped with Teradek Bolts, enabling our cameramen to wirelessly shoot some brilliant up-close footage as the riders flew by. We also had two remotely controlled robotic cameras, which captured competition footage from positions we wouldn’t normally be able to place cameramen. To top it off we placed two locked off GoPro Hero 3s at the top of the skate ramps where space was very limited.
Implementing our reliable work flow, the camera feeds were sent to our TriCaster 855 in the production space where our vision mixer and director sat alongside the 3Play operator and graphics operator – working like cogs in a well-oiled machine. The product? Another slick, action-filled live stream enjoyed by skate fans across the planet.
