Comedian, marathon-runner and London 2012 Ambassador Eddie Izzard delivered the de Coubertin Lecture at Toynbee Studios, in London’s East End on Thursday July 19th and streamed live by 3xScreen on The Space – a digital arts service of the BBC in partnership with the Arts Council England.
Izzard offered his very own take on the three pillars of Olympism – sport, culture and education, speaking in English and French. Utilising a 3xScreen HD Livepack live link from Olympic Park, Eddie also provided a sneak preview of the last minute preparations for the greatest show on earth, on his way to deliver the lecture.
Client: BBC – for The Space digital arts service
Brief: Produce and live stream the lecture, including a live link from Olympic Park so that Alan Yentob, who was on-stage in front of an audience of Olympics volunteers at Toynbee Hall, could chat with Eddie as he ran around Olympic Park.
Video production: One Box Television
Live streaming and Olympic Park live link: 3xScreen Media
3xScreen was responsible for streaming Eddie’s lecture live on The Space website. 3xScreen utilised a HD Livepack to send a live feed from the lecture at Toynbee Hall to 3xScreen’s Clerkenwell studio where broadcast graphics were added and the program output encoded and live streamed to a publish point provided by the BBC.
Utilising a second HD Livepack, 3xScreen provided a live video link from Olympic Park so that, prior to his arrival at Toynbee Hall, Eddie could run around Olympic Park while chatting with Alan Yentob who was on-stage at Toynbee.
